AT&T has unveiled four new mobile phones, two each from Pantech and Samsung that feature full web browsers as well as physical and virtual keyboards. The Pantech Reveal, Pantech Impact, Samsung Mythic, and Samsung Flight will join AT&T’s messaging and touch-screen phone portfolio.
The new phones will come preloaded with AT&T’s new HTML mobile browser and att.net service, combining HTML browsing with features for personalising favourite bookmarks and local searches. The new att.net mobile platform utilises data compression from Opera Software, which is expected to deliver HTML web pages faster.
AT&T said that Pantech Reveal is a slim and snappy slider that features an open-faced numeric keypad and utilises AT&T Navigator and 3G to facilitate GPS, surfing the web and listening to music. It is expected to be available on October 18, 2009, in red and blue colours.
According to AT&T, the Pantech Impact features an OLED touch screen that allows users to send text messages, make calls, and control their music library without having to open the phone. A sideways flip of the phone reveals a full physical keyboard and a second display screen, allowing for a fuller experience when typing longer messages. In addition, Impact’s bright screen and tri-band 3G functionality allows users to manage social networks and explore the internet.
The Samsung Mythic is a touch screen-only device which is AT&T Mobile TV-capable and is expected to be available in November. The 3.3-inch touch screen scrolls left to right on the home screen for additional apps with the touch of a finger. Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface allows users to access to favourite features and has specially designed widgets to customise and personalise the phone.
The Samsung Flight has a vertical sliding form factor, with full keyboard underneath. The main display features a user interface that provides one-touch access to functions like shortcuts, favourites and messaging. It is expected to be available in November in red and silver colour options, the company said.
