The very last thing IBM wants is for its System 36 users to start messing around with Unix on the RT, but that is just what Jacore Technologies Inc, Marietta, Georgia is inviting them to do with RPGII/IX, an adaptation of Software Ireland Ltd, Belfast’s Unibol/RPG II implementation for Unix. RPGII/IX enables System 36 users to run their applications under AIX and grow with the RT, avoiding the very big price jump in moving to the AS/400. It is written in C, there is full emulation of 5251-11 functionality on suitable terminals, a high degree of compatibility with 34, 36 files using the AIX file system, and full utilities; no price given.
