The IBM Sports Service is operating track side computers at the 21st European Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow this weekend: the PS/2 manufacturing plant in Greenock, Scotland is supplying machines to the IBM Sports Service, and staff to operate them, and they will be used to compile results and distribute information; behind the scenes, an AS/400 will control a network of terminals to register and accredit athletes; this is the Sports Service’s fourth year in the field of international athletics, and support for a further 20 events is scheduled for 1990, including 10 of the Mobil Grand Prix events.
