SynOptics Communications Inc will offer a network management system for Ethernetwork users from the beginning of 1989. The product, LattisNet Network Management, is claimed to feature real-time topology mapping by gathering and displaying information about concentrators with installed LattisNet network management modules; features include a standard attachment unit interface on the Model 212 Network Management Module, FSMA or ST fibre optic interconnection options on the 217 and 218 models, and a standard attachment unit interface on the 213. The Model 630 Control Console Package includes control and monitor software, and an adaptor card in the IBM AT-alike control console, which collects information from network management modules and processes statistical management data for display. The Model 631 Control Console Package also has in-band and out of-band signalling capabilities. SynOptics Communications claims a LattisNet system with network management has an incremental cost of less than $30 per node when compared with a similarly configured system without network management.
