The US General Services Administration has ordered the US Navy not to award computer contracts to a value higher than $2.5m – it is normally capped at $10m, and $15m for Marine Corps contracts until the House of Representatives Government Operations Committee has completed its investigation of the complaint by Amdahl Corp and five other suppliers of IBM-compatible mainframe equipment that the Navy rigs its bids to favour IBM over compatibles: the cap is for a minimum of 60 days and may well be extended.
