Trend Micro and Iomega have announced that Trend Micro’s security products will be added to Iomega’s Protection Suite, which is bundled with Iomega hard drives shipped worldwide.
Iomega is expected to deliver a combination of virus protection and physical drive durability that addresses the common consumer concerns for the safety of their digital data stored on an external portable or desktop hard drive, by adding Trend Micro Internet Security offerings to its Protection Suite.
Trend Micro Internet Security and Trend Smart Surfing for Mac will be part of the Iomega Protection Suite that is bundled with the company’s hard drive products, including the Iomega Prestige and Iomega eGo portable hard drives, and the Iomega Prestige, Iomega eGo and Iomega UltraMax desktop hard drives, the companies said.
The companies said that the Trend Micro Internet Security powered by the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network infrastructure works in the background, correlating threat intelligence, blocking threats in the internet cloud, and giving customers real-time protection.
With the addition of Trend Micro Internet Security Solutions, the Iomega Protection Suite will include Iomega QuikProtect, a backup software for scheduled file-level backup of data to hard drives and network-attached storage devices; EMC Retrospect Express or Express HD, which backups all the data plus applications and settings.
In addition, it also includes MozyHome Online Backup service with 2GB of online capacity; MozyHome Online service that allows users to restore data from any computer with internet access; and a subscription to Trend Micro Internet Security for PCs or a subscription to Trend Smart Surfing for Mac.

Trend Micro Internet Security and Trend Smart Surfing are expected to be available as part of the Iomega Protection Suite by the end of January 2010.
