Management buyouts, entered into with such high hopes, frequently prove deep disappointments, but things appear to be going fine at Mohawk Ltd, the management buyout of the British Isles end of Mohawk Data Sciences Inc in 1987. The Putney, SW company reports that pre-tax profit in 1988 rose 33% to UKP632,000 on turnover up 17% at UKP7.7m from its new specialisation of 90ppm and 60ppm laser printers, and 3270-compatible terminals and controllers. The company has also acquired Program Products Ltd, a software house that extends its reach in the premium non-impact printer market by designing programs to maximise graphics capabilities of high end laser printers. It also gives Mohawk a continental base, in Munich, West Germany.
