Turns out that Mid Glamorgan County Council’s virus attack, reported after the October 13 scare, in fact arrived on a floppy disk – and cop-ies of the nasty floppy have been sent to various other large companies and institutions, including J Sainsbury: it carries the name PC Cyborg Corp, but is nothing to do with Cyborg Systems UK, the personnel systems specialist; the disk claims it contains information on the AIDS virus, but when loaded, an invoice is generated together with an address in Panama where money can be sent with the promise of an antidote to the virus that has eaten all the hapless user’s data.
