Dai-Nippon Printing Co and the Sumitomo 3M Co joint venture have jointly developed an electronic publishing system, which combines the power of Dai-Nippon Printing’s MicroPage editing system with 3M’s colour workstation graphic editing system, with the integration hardware for the system to be made by 3M: when editing is required on graphic data input to the MicroPage System, it is sent on-line to the workstation, where the colour can be edited or added, and the finished graphic data can be sent back to MicroPage for trimming and incorporation into pages; the system is claimed to be the first in the world to combine graphic editing with electronic publishing, and sells for $345,000.
