Contel Corp, Atlanta, and United Telecommunications Inc, Kansas City, Kansas, have agreed in principle to exchange the assets of some telephone properties in four Midwestern states: Contel will swap Contel of Kansas Inc and Kansas State Telephone Co for the assets for United’s telephone businesses in Iowa and Arkansas, plus five of the firm’s exchanges in Missouri; the value of the assets being swapped is put at from $70m to $80m.
