Bell Northern Research in Ottawa, Ontario, has announced development of a CCITT-compatible Integrated Services Digital Network personal computer software package, which enables a physically separate Northern Telecom T2317 ISDN telephone and personal computer equipped with a Northern Telecom terminal adapter interface card to work as a single, integrated voice+data workstation: the embryo product is claimed to be able to carry out Centrex features available on Northern Telecom’s DMS-100 such as line identification and a DMS-100 ISDN node is necessary to send traffic between the telephone and the computer along the ISDN signalling D channel; there are no plans as yet to market the product, but it is being used in a field trial by Mountain Bell as part of its North American ISDN user trials from Phoenix, Arizona.
