Two former directors from Computer Sciences Corp’s CSC International unit, Ian Kirwan and Barrington Ward, have set up a new consultancy group in the UK. Situated in Sunninghill, Berkshire, it is called the Barian Group. With a staff of 42, it majors on procurement and disposal of new and second-user computer systems, primarily from the IBM range, but aims to provide a range of services, such as consultancy on hardware, software and networking, through to installation and engineering – to any size of company from a one-man outfit to a multinational. Though based in the UK, it aims to works throughout Europe, the US and the Far and Middle East. Three months after its formation the group claimsto have passed the UKP1.5m turnover mark, and is aiming for UKP20m turnover by next year. It also provides a comprehensive rescue service, including checking daily the availability of equipment necessary in the event of a disaster striking.
