MiniScribe Corp has added the 3130 and 3180 Winchester drives, with unformatted capacities of 130Mb and 180Mb, double the capacity of its 3000 family of 40Mb to 70Mb 5.25 half-height drives and have 17mS average access time, 4Mbps SCSI or 10Mbps ESDI interfaces, and 17W power requirement: the Longmont, Colorado company is now in production ramp-up for the two new drives, and also announced availability of three new 3.5 drives, the 8225XT, 8450XT and 8450 RLL with unformatted storage from 25Mb to 50Mb and include embedded industry-standard controller, rugged rack-and-pinion stepper motor with average access times from 68mS to 45mS and high-density head positioning across temperature extremes; data rate is 7.5Mbps; no prices given.
