The downside on the new machines is that they won’t be available even in the US until the fourth quarter: reasons presumably include shortages of 80386 chips, and uncertainty over availability and merits of the MS-OS/2 operating system; some analysts rather naively questioned the absence of an answer to IBM’s ugly little kluge, the 8086-based PS/2 Model 30, but unless a competitor that makes Personalikes wants to be seen to follow a slavish me-too policy of appearing to copy everything IBM has done, it makes more sense to ignore the Model 30 and simply cut prices on existing machines.
