Sterling Software Inc has acquired the supercomputer services business of ZeroOne Systems Inc, a privately-held Santa Clara company specialising in the management and operation of bureau services, including supercomputer facilities for NASA and the National Science Foundation; it has been responsible for the development and operation of the Advanced Computational Facility at the NASA/Ames Research Center since 1981, and other computer centres for the federal government since the early 1970s, as well as operating the John von Neumann Center at Princeton University in New Jersey, which currently has two Control Data Cyber 205s, but will be upgrading to an ETA 10 system later this year; the supercomputer business will become Sterling’s ZeroOne Systems Group; it did $14m in 1986.
