The OS/2 Show, sponsored by IBM, which opened yesterday at Olympia and continues today and tomorrow, got off to an ambivalent start: a total of 50 exhibitors in one fairly small room, and a disproportionate number of stands belonging to IBM; the combination of stands, staff, and lack of space conspired to create the illusion of crowds, but the truth may be less numerous than the OS/2ers and IBMers, would have us believe; however, enthusiasm for OS/2 was self-evident, perhaps self-serving, and one IBMer went so far as to claim that MS-DOS for programmers is on its last legs, if it’s not dead already; and in case you didn’t know, the only viable operating system for 80286-based personal computers is OS/2.
