The intelligent network services triumvirate of IBM, Siemens and Bell Atlantic International has pinpointed five services with high-growth potential worldwide, out of 30 considered, and have published the findings of their study into the field. The study found a strong synergistic link between the services and Integrated Services Digital Network. The five key services identified are toll-free service, where the receiver pays for the call; alternate billing services for charging to credit cards or other phone numbers; emergency response services for police, fire, ambulance and vital information; private virtual networks; and wide-area Centrex. IBM and Siemens agreed to a follow-on study into how intelligent network concepts might be applied in pan-European digital cellular nets.
