IBM, which seems to be looking to make an investment in every small and medium-sized US software developer with which it does or plans to do business, and it has now moved for Valisys Corp, the Santa Clara company that supplies some of the computer-integrated manufacturing tools that were part of IBM’s CIM Advantage announcement last October. IBM is paying an undisclosed sum for new voting convertible preferred stock in Valisys and the two also has a new agreement for development of enhancements to the Valisys products that are marketed by IBM, which are designed to provide automated quality assurance and inspection functions to iscrete parts manufacturers. IBM also plans to use Valisys applications in the design and manufacturing of its own products.
