Concurrent Computer Corp has introduced multiprocessor versions of the new Micro 3200 models in its OS/32 real-time product family. Joining the MicroThree and MicroFive, the MicroThree MPS comes with up to six processors and is rated at 3.9 to 21 MIPS, while the MicroFive MPS versions are rated at 6.8 to 36 MIPS on the Whetstone benchmark. Input-output capacity is up to 40M-bytes-per-second and the things tke up to 256Mb of main memory. The company has tailored the machines against the new DEC VAX 6000 Models 300 and 400, claiming 30% better price-performance for the smaller one, 25% better for the larger. An entry-level MicroThree MPS with two 3.9 MIPS processors and 16Mb will sell for $180,000, and a similarly configured MicroFive with two 6.8 MIPS processors costs $260,000. US ships are set for November.
