Matsushita Electric Industrial Co will offer three models of its new Panacom M530 16-bit desktop computers, which has 3.5 disk drives in place of the 5.25 in the superseded M500 series, and overall has a 30% smaller footprint, although it takes all its predecessor’s expansion cards and peripherals without modification: processor is a 1Mb 8MHz 80286 with no wait states, memory goes to 9Mb and there are four slots; operating systems to be offered are Japanese MS OS/2 V1.0, Japanese MS-DOS V3.1, and Japanese MS Windows V2.1, all from Microsoft Corp; the price range is $2,300 to $4,040 depending on hard disk size.
