Atlantic Computer Plc’s agreement with Seattle-based Wall Data Inc (CI No 756) includes an option for Wall Data to manufacture Atlantic’s Orator compatible plug-in board for the Personal Computer: it does the same job as a four speed modem at 2,400bps full duplex but also includes a voice communications capability, enabling it to act as an answerphone, dialling and answering the ‘phone when it is plugged into the back of the board; British Telecom has also expressed an interest in selling the UKP795 board, which can pre-record greetings to be activated at appropriate times and includes an automatic routine that can be set up to access database services like Telecom Gold.
