HP has extended its thin computing portfolio with the launch of new thin client platforms, client virtualisation and multi seat offerings.

According to HP, the new t5740 and t5745 Flexible Series thin clients deliver computing experience for client virtualisation deployments. The t5740 features Intel Atom N280 processor and Intel GL40 chipset, while the t5745 Flexible Series provides eight USB 2.0 ports and an optional PCI expansion module for upgrades.

The company said that the flexible series thin clients support multimedia for visual display offerings, including the new LD4700 47-inch widescreen LCD digital signage display. The t5325 Essential Series Thin Client includes a new interface that simplifies setup and deployment. It offers a combination of features and enables local web access and basic multimedia support.

All new thin clients include intuitive setup tools that streamline configuration and management into a short series of steps. The ThinPro Setup Wizard for Linux and Easy Config for Microsoft Windows help customers to choose the configurations for their virtual environment. In addition, HP thin clients also include on-board utilities that automate deployment of new connections, properties, low-bandwidth add-ons and image updates from one centralised repository thin clients.

HP has introduced three new client virtualisation architectures that combine Citrix XenDesktop 4, Citrix XenApp or VMware View with HP ProLiant servers, storage and thin clients. The new HP ProLiant WS460c G6 workstation blade brings centralised, mission-critical security to workstation computing.

HP said that the Client Automation 7.8, part of its business service automation software portfolio, allows customers to deploy and migrate to a virtual desktop infrastructure environment and manage it through the entire life cycle. In addition, it also manages traditional and virtual client environments – including all thin clients, virtual back-end infrastructure and traditional PCs.

The HP MultiSeat offering stretches the computing budgets of small businesses and other resource-constrained organisations by delivering up to twice the computing seats as traditional PCs for the same IT spend, the company claims.

The HP t5740 Flexible Series thin client starts at $429, 5745 Flexible Series starts at $399, LD4700 47-inch widescreen LCD digital signage starts at $1,799 and the ProLiant WS460c G6 blade workstation starts at $3,044 and are currently available. The HP t5325 Essential Series thin client starts at $199 and is expected to be available on December 1, 2009.
