Fujitsu has unveiled new file services offering for its Eternus storage systems, which it claims to offer the ability to manage and protect information, maximise system performance and scale performance and capacity non-disruptively as application requirements change.
The company said that the ETERNUS file services system is offered as a preconfigured offering for file services and incorporates Symantec FileStore, which is built on Veritas Cluster Server, VxVM and handles both NFS and CIFS file services.
The Eternus file services offering allows organisations to consolidate and manage large volumes of data and integrates with Symantec’s security and information management offerings, including NetBackup and Endpoint Protection for virus protection. The services run directly on the file service nodes, and reduces performance problems, enhancing security and simplifying operations, Fujitsu claims.
According to Fujitsu, the Eternus file services offering allows organisations to add or remove storage without taking systems offline. It scales in affordable increments, starting at entry-level configurations and reaches maximums of 16 nodes and 2PB of total storage.
In addition, the new offering self-deploys and self-configures based on a few parameters provided by an administrator, and meets the performance requirements of large-file applications such as medical imaging and geophysical exploration, Fujitsu said.
