LocatioNet Systems and Huawei have entered into a collaboration to include LocatioNet’s ‘amAze’ GPS navigation service on Huawei’s new GPS-enabled mobile handsets.
According to the agreement, the amAze application will be pre-installed by Huawei on its new GPS-enabled handsets. Users of the Huawei handsets will have access to the amAze navigation service with coverage of maps around the globe.
Reportedly, based on the internal GPS receiver in the handset users would be able to use amAze to get turn-by-turn voice guided navigation. They would also be able to view and navigate over detailed maps and satellite images in over 200 cities around the world, to view weather conditions, to search for points of interest and to search in local directories.
Meir Dan, CEO of LocatioNet, said: “We are very excited to be selected by Huawei as their navigation application partner. As part of this evolution, every mobile user can have wider access not only to pure navigation services but also to vast amount of geographical data on a worldwide basis that is made available via the wireless network.
LocatioNet Systems said that the service supports handsets with Java and Windows Mobile versions. Android and iPhone versions are expected to be released later this year.
