Businessland Inc, San Jose is expanding its Businessland Rents Division with three new depots opening in Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago. It says that its one-year-old Pleasanton, California-based operation holds a 15% share of the estimated $20m Bay Area rental market, and is renting between 500 and 600 systems per month. The $300m personal computer rental market is forecast to grow at 30% a year over the next two years, and the firm claims that concerns over technology obsolescence, capital conservation in an uncertain economic climate, and expanding training and project requirements, has made renting the fastest-growing segment of the personal computer market. Follow-ing Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago, Businessland Rents plans depots in Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York. Technology firms account for 60% of rentals.
