Alpha Microsystems Inc, with fourth quarter losses widened to $7.0m from $1.5m a year ago, on sales up 6.5% at $12.1m, has had to fire 50 people, 14%, of its 343-strong workforce in an effort to cut costs; newly-appointed chief operating officer Thomas Wheelock has also resigned from the company.
