Canon Inc has applied its bubblejet printer technology to a portable printer and come up with the BJ10e little brother to the BJ130e. The 10e weighs 4 lbs, rising to 4 lbs 10 oz with the battery pack, and Canon claims to be able to fit a laptop personal computer and the printer into one briefcase. Like the 130e, the 10e gives 360 dots per inch resolution. The print head and cartridge are a single unit and last for around 700,000 characters. It offers builtin IBM Proprinter X24e and BJ130e emulations. Canon sees the printer being used by business travellers and sales representatives as well as home computer users and possibly schools. The printer can be used with any computer that has a parallel interface and software that emulates IBM’s X24e. It costs UKP345 and the battery pack is UKP40.
