Layer 7 Technologies, a provider of XML Gateways for SOA and the cloud, has released Oracle Service Bus (OSB) Appliance for Oracle Fusion customers.
The company said that the OSB Appliance runs on Sun x64 servers and combines XML security and deployment of the company’s SecureSpan XML Gateway, and the messaging, connectivity and virtualisation versatility of the Oracle Service Bus.
Layer 7 claims that delivered as a single, preconfigured appliance, the integration of an XML Gateway with an embedded OSB gives enterprises an expanded range of options around how and where they deploy an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).
Rick Butler, chief engineer for Raytheon Information Security Solutions, said: “The integrated OSB-Layer 7 Appliance allows us to simplify our SOA security architecture through fewer components, while extending our OSB functionality into the DMZ. This opens several new deployment scenarios to us, and reduces our SOA implementation cost and complexity.”
Marshall Choy, senior group manager of engineered solutions group at Sun Microsystems, said: “The Sun Fire X4170 server is a prime example of Sun’s systems innovation, delivering high performance and enterprise reliability in one rack unit. Integrating this Sun system with Layer 7 technology and the Oracle Service Bus provides Oracle Fusion customers with an efficient, streamlined solution for managing enterprise SOA.”
The Oracle Service Bus Appliance will be available from Layer 7 starting from October 11, 2009.
