The Lanier Business Systems Division of Harris Corp has announced an AT-alike it calls the Concept 2400 Advanced Personal Workstation. It features an Intel 80286 processor running at 8MHz with 512Kb base memory, expandable to one megabyte of on-board RAM. Its disk controller board can support two hard disks and two floppies. The unit has hard disk configurations of up to 80Mb as well as 1.2Mb and 360Kb of floppy disk drive storage. The Concept 2400 has either a monochrome or colour monitor with tilt and swivel and keyboard connector, and the monochrome monitor features graphics support, while the colour monitor features both Colour Graphics and Enhanced Graphics support. Other features include built-in real-time clock/calendar with battery back-up; bus-mounted processor enabling upgrade to more powerful future processors; internal streamer tape drive option; and HarrisNet 300 attachment capability. It comes bundles with MS-DOS 3.20 operating system and GW-Basic. List price for the Concept 2400 base unit – 512Kb CPU, 1.2Mb floppy, hard+floppy controller with support for two floppies and two hard disk drives, real-time clock with battery back-up, 115/220V power supply, keyboard lock and two keys and standard 5-pin DIN keyboard connector is $2,245. It is available now in the US.
