Bracknell, UK-based independent workflow system vendor Staffware Plc, which floated on the Alternatve Investment Market last June, made pre-tax profits of 873,879 pounds, up 63% from last year on revenue of 9.9m pounds, up 130%. With 160,000 users of its workflow system worldwide, the company reckons it has 40% of the global independent workflow systems market, ie. systems not integrated with other technologies such as document management or imaging. This makes it number one in Europe and number two or three worldwide, deferring only to FileNet Corp and IBM Corp and its Lotus Development Corp. Staffware has just released the latest upgrade of its eponymous workflow package. The system, Staffware 97, was meant to be released with a new Java client module called Staffware Global that will provide Internet and intra- net-based access to the application from any form of client – desktop, X terminal or Network Computer – but it is behind schedule; the Java module will not now be launched until April 9. Staffware will pay its first ever dividend of a penny this period.
