Arkeia Software, a provider of backup and disaster recovery software, has expanded into Silicon Valley with new offices in Los Altos, California. The offices will provide a hub for engineering resources, house the company’s product management organisation, and accommodate local sales resources.

In November 2009, Arkeia Software acquired Kadena Systems, a developer of deduplication technology. The company said that its new Silicon Valley offices co-locate engineers from Arkeia with Kadena Systems to accelerate development of data protection offerings.

Arkeia Software said that the first programs in its Silicon Valley offices will focus on development of deduplication technology and offerings for backup of virtualised environments.

Bill Evans, CEO of Arkeia Software, said: Silicon Valley is at the center of high-tech engineering. Offices here will simplify our recruiting of top engineering talent as we develop the next generation of data protection software and appliances. Proximity to our partners who develop virtualisation and cloud storage technologies encourages innovation and eases collaboration – helping us stay ahead.
