EMI Group Plc, one of the world’s largest record companies and, more importantly, the company with the Spice Girls on its books, is hoping to sell its recordings online, and according to the Financial Times is in negotiations with Eurodat SA, a privately-owned French company already running a pilot music sales service over the Lyonnaise des Eaux cable television network. Music companies have been worried about the security aspects of digital distribution in the past, and EMI is said to be paying close attention to Eurodat’s Kleline security system, which was jointly developed by French banking group Paribas SA and luxury goods firm LVMH Group.
