IBM Corp has finally gone public with its plan to sell Santa Cruz Operation Inc’s UnixWare operating system on its Intel-based PC servers first revealed by our sister publication Unigram.X back in March. It’s already markets SCO’s OpenServer Unix. IBM joins the likes of Compaq, Data General, Fujitsu, Olivetti, Siemens Nixdorf and Unisys as one of SCO’s Big E club of companies promoting Intel-based enterprise solutions running UnixWare. The two are looking for ISVs. IBM’s going to port its systems management software to UnixWare, the next version of which, code named Gemini, is a blend of the company’s OpenServer and UnixWare products.
