Excalibur Technologies Corp has enhanced its Internet search and retrieval offerings with the acquisition of Santa Clara, California-based Interpix Software Corp and its multi-media robot gathering technology. Excalibur issued 275,000 shares to Interpix shareholders in exchange for all the outstanding shares of Interpix, which will become a wholly-owned Excalibur subsidiary. The company says the addition of Interpix technologies supports its strategy of providing a unified architecture for knowledge retrieval. Combining Interpix’s ISpi technology with Excalibur’s own RetrievalWare and Visual RetrievalWare, will enable enhanced web crawling and publishing, the company said, encompassing all digital data repositories in the corporate intranet and the Internet. Excalibur says the combined products will be extremely scaleable, and suitable for both corporate intranets and Internet push providers. The companies had previously worked together on Excalibur WebSynchro for maintaining indexes of intranets, using ISpi. The deal was completed on May 5.
