Meanwhile, despite its main focus on Windows NT, Tandem is readying a Unix version of ServerNet aimed at OEMs under the codename Eclipse. It has hopes that the Santa Cruz Operation Inc will build hooks directly into its Unix products, something it has already done for Dolphin Interconnect Solutions AS’s scalable coherent interface technology. In return, Tandem might use the SCO operating system for a new line of Intel-based Unix machines derived from its current S1000 Windows NT-based family. Tandem previously said it would only be marketing Unix machines to the telecommunications sector, but appears to feel there is mass- market potential in the clustered-enabled systems. Eclipse is likely to come to market under a different name.
