Verity Inc, the Sunnyvale, California search and retrieval software outfit that has been on a shopping spree recently, says it expects to post a fourth-quarter loss of roughly $0.07 to $0.10 per share before charges, slightly more than the First Call consensus of $0.05. Last week, the company acquired the Keyview filtering business from FTP Software for $1.5m (CI No 3,170) and earlier this week announced the acquisition of IBM database management spin-off 64k Inc, for $3.5m (CI No 3,174). Verity says both transactions were completed before May 31, and will together result in charges of $3.5m to $4m for the quarter. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be flat with the preceding quarter at $11.1m, bringing the fiscal year total to $42.6m.
