Addonics Technologies has unveiled new multi-flash readers with SATA interface, including a read-only model that is suitable for markets such as forensics. The new products are the Pocket eSATA/USB DigiDrive and the Internal SATA/USB DigiDrive and come in read/write and a read-only version.
The company claims that the Pocket eSATA/USB DigiDrive is a flash memory reader/writer that comes in the size of a portable floppy drive. It connects any flash memory media, including the SDHC standard, to any computer or equipment through either high speed eSATA or USB interface. When connected to an eSATA port, any flash media can be used as a bootable device with read/write speed up to 150MB/sec.
The company said that the new product features upgradeable firmware to ensure compatibility with future new flash standards. There is also a choice of a Pocket eSATA/USB DigiDrive read-only model, which is a suitable offering for forensic applications.
According to Addonics, the Pocket DigiDrive features maximum data transfer of up to 1,500Mbits/sec with eSATA and up to 480Mbits/sec with USB 2.0. It can also read and write to 15 different digital media. It has four slots for direct access to compact flash (CF), secure digital (SD) and SDHC (SD 2.0), multi media card (MMC) and memory stick (MS).
The internal SATA/USB DigiDrive is designed to mount directly into a standard 3.5-inch drive bay. Like the Pocket DigiDrive, the internal SATA/USB DigiDrive connects flash memory media to any system or equipment through either the SATA or USB interface and can be used as bootable device with read/write speed up to 150MB/sec, Addonics said.
