Advanced RISC Machines Ltd (ARM) announced Monday that it has taken a 45% stake in Los Gatos, California Palmchip Corp, a designer of mass storage controller cores. The two companies have been working together since January of 1996 developing RISC architecture with mass storage peripherals that will provide OEM customers with a system-on-a-chip product. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
