Digital Equipment Corp says its adoption of BEA Systems Inc’s Tuxedo online transaction processing monitor (CI No 3,101) doesn’t mean the death-knell for its own ACMSxp transaction processing software it claims is differentiated from all other transaction monitors by its support for the high level X/Open STDL Structured Transaction Definition Language,enabling developers to write applications more quickly. Where other monitors require coding in third-generation languages, says DEC, ACMSxp’s transactional syntax is all contained in the high level language, something DEC says it’s already demonstrated in conjunction with Microsoft Corp’s MTS TP mechanism, more commonly known as Viper (CI No 3,040).
