Today’s American teens are so turned on by the technological revolution taking place around them that they say they could more easily live without television – 28% – than without a computer – 23%, a USA Today/CNN poll for the US National Science Foundation suggests. They are frequent users with 98% having used computers, 89% having done school reports on computers, and 56% having used the Internet for school projects – and 77% say that they would prefer using the Internet to books and magazines for projects, while 62% say they can usually learn to use a new piece of technology equipment on their own. Eighty-two percent think they won’t make a good living unless they have computer skills and an understanding of other technology, and 65% feel that their schools should be teaching them more about computers. The methodologies were not revealed. á
