Ramping up its challenge to Lotus Corp and Netscape Communications Corp, Keyfile Corp has launched Version 2.0 of KeyFlow for Microsoft Exchange Server. The workflow systems vendor, previously an OS/2 house but now a convinced Redmonite, claims that Version 2.0 integrates inter-departmental workflows with corporate and legacy applications. The enhanced applications programming interface set along with Microsoft Active Agents enables users to access and use existing high-end software without developing new applications. Ian Campbell, director of collaborative and Intranet computing at International Data Corp, says: Exchange Server continues to gain market momentum, due in part to the availability of third-party products such as Keyflow. This latest release adds high-end workflow functionality to… an open platform tightly integrated in the Exchange environment. Keyfile provides a common operating environment along with a business process library and standardized desktop. New APIs include start flows that launch processes from external applications, forms, the Web or electronic mail. Custom capabilities can be implemented using Outlook97 forms, VBScript, Visual Basic, C, C++ and several other languages, enable users to tailor and expose as much of the underlying workflow process as required. Available now, the Nashua, New Hampshire-based company charges $300 for client software.
