Beleaguered Citrix Systems Inc is rounding up supporters to help it develop extensions to its eponymous ICA multi-user NT and display protocols. Extensions and add-on services that are expected to form much of Citrix’s business going forward after Microsoft Corp introduces its own Hydra multi-user NT extension. An Open ICA Forum attracted 13 companies. Citrix’s Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) is a set of three technologies including display services, system services and the ICA protoco l itself. The ICA protocol enables the user interface to be processed independently from any application logic. Collectively the ICA technologies enable 32-bit Windows applications to be accessed from PCs and network computers.
