Asante Technologies Inc has added management software to its 100TX and 100FX stackable hubs and launched the result as the Asante Fast 100 TX Managed Hub, a 12-port stackable Fast Ethernet hub with built-in network management control. The Asante Fast 100 TX Managed Hub provides management for existing unmanaged versions and managed units in the same stack. All three hubs are based on a Class II stackable architecture, which supports up to 26 hubs, or 312 users, in one collision domain. The hubs connect using a single high-speed backplane, requiring no cascade cabling to attach multiple hubs in the stack. Management is in the form of IntraSpection, a Web-based network management system that supports all devices based on Simple Network Management Protocol. The free IntraSpection software included with the 100 TX Managed Hub is customizable using HTML and Java and features a network map manager, trap manager, Java-enabled network status reports, open database connectivity, network event logging, and security mechanisms. The Asante Fast 100 TX Managed Hub will be available May 1 at $2,800.
