The British Library has awarded a 3m pound contract to the $300m Canadian company CGI Inc to customize and install Amicus library management software. Amicus was co-developed by CGI and the National Library of Canada, which has been using the system since 1995. CGI is working closely with Axis Resources, a subsidiary of the 4bn pound Tomkins Group, and Axis is appointed as the prime integrator of the new Corporate Bibliographic Systems, based on Amicus. It supports over 2,000 users and 30 million bibliographic records and should replace the British Library’s existing systems by 1999.
