Old time small business systems builder MAI Systems Corp, Irvine, California has acquired the Cimpro division of Oracle Corp’s wholly-owned Datalogix International Inc unit for $5.9m in cash; Oracle bought longtime partner Datalogix last year (CI No 3,001). Cimpro develops process manufacturing enterprise resource planning applications for food, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers world-wide. MAI also completed its previously announced financing with Canyon Capital Management LLP, issuing $6m of its 11% notes due 2004 with warrants for 750,000 common shares at $8. MAI says it wants to combine Valhalla, New York- based Cimpro’s products with its own Manbase process manufacturing offering as part of its strategy to become the leading provider of complete systems for medium sized process manufacturers. MAI says it has retained key Cimpro personnel to ensure continuity of development, support and customer service for both product lines.
