Aimtech Corp has updated its IconAuthor authoring system for multimedia applications, to include interactive web-based training applications. IconAuthor Net Edition comes with a new Internet plug-in enabling multimedia content to be mixed and matched between CD-ROMs, Web servers and internal networks. Net Edition includes a library of training templates and a new Integrated Development Environment for authoring and debugging in a single view. Features include a web object for integrating web pages into Java applets and ActiveX controls, a plug-in object for incorporating media types or applications, file compression, streaming and multi-threading and Universal Media Access to enable applications to access media files stored across several, locations. UMA enables development of hybrid applications that combine high bandwidth audio and video from a local source with time sensitive information from a centrally maintained server on the Internet. IconAuthor Net edition ships with multiple icon libraries. It’s on Windows 95, NT and Unix, for $3,995.
