USA.NET, a provider of integrated messaging and collaboration services, has announced the availability of Commercial Messaging Service (CMS) 2.0.

According to USA.NET, the hosted email service comes in two different packages, CMS Web, and CMS Enterprise. These allow users to access emails from any web browser with an internet connection and any desktop email clients including Outlook, Outlook Express and Entourage, as well as from many wireless devices.

CMS Web includes multi-layered virus and spam protection, an address book with lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) access, auto-responders, scheduled message delivery, administration features and other services. It also enables users to view their emails from mobile devices through either a wireless application protocol webpage designed for CMS, or via POP or IMAP access.

CMS Enterprise includes all the capabilities of the CMS web service, with additional features such as wireless and two-way outlook synchronisation, calendaring, tasks, notes, web-based reporting and storage allocation capabilities. Add-on features such as encrypted email, content filtering and instant messaging are also available in the CMS enterprise package.

Both services allow application programming interface integration with customer business applications such as customer relationship management platforms, databases and alerting.

Doug Howard, president of USA.NET and chief strategy officer at Perimeter, said: CMS 2.0 is a feature rich hosted messaging solution bundled with the best-in-class anti-virus and spam protection, as well as mobility, in one simple hosted package that includes the same attributes as other hosted email solutions on the market at a notably lower price.
