In another coup for the fledgling push-technology Internet company, Marimba has persuaded IBM subsidiary Lotus to embed its Castanet software into Lotus’s Notes successor, Domino. The year- old company specializes in software that allows users to subscribe to application channels covering areas ranging from MIS applications, multimedia entertainment, interactive games and productivity applications. The deal is claimed to allow Domino Web and other application servers to get content and upgrades to clients in a way that will minimize distribution, installation, maintenance and version control. Castanet Tuner will ship with Domino 4.5, as well as a bundled demo of a Transmitter, software which can broadcast to five subscribers at a time.
