Growth in the European computer market between now and the Millennium is pegged at a fairly pedestrian 7.8% a year by International Data Corp, which says its new figure is down on previous estimates . B right spots will be multi-usersystems, growing at 9.9%, and software growing at 10.1%, but personal computers are not going to pull anybody’s chestnuts out of the fire with compound annual growth rate of 6.5% – and neither are services, tipped to grow at 6.7% annually; looking back, the Framingham, Massachusetts researcher reckons that the market overall grew 11.6% in 1996, with personal computers putting on 11.6% – a far cry from the 35% from some loonier forecasters.
