Tandberg has added the new Codec C40 to its C Series codec platform to allow greater scale for high-definition video deployments.

Based on Tandberg C90 telepresence and collaboration codec, the new C40 is designed to meet the needs of organisations and broaden access to video conferencing and telepresence from any meeting space, Tandberg said.

The company said that the C40 offers up to 1080p resolution, MultiSite capability, multiple microphones, audio inputs and a set of APIs to meet the needs of integrators.

With the addition of the C40, the Tandberg C Series now includes four codecs and is interoperable with any video conferencing or telepresence system and unified communications platforms such as Microsoft Office Communicator.

Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of Tandberg: “In the new way of working, video conferencing and telepresence deliver the greatest benefits when they are accessible to everyone. However, we recognise one size does not fit all. That is why Tandberg continues to deliver interoperable HD solutions like the C40 so that our customers, no matter their size or resources, have the greatest flexibility and the highest quality experience possible.”
